Autodesk 宣布停止旗下 Alias 和 VERD 两款工业和可视化设计套件在 MacOS 上的支持,全因苹果将会放弃支持 OpenGL 同时又不愿意修改兼容性问题。
What is changing for Autodesk VRED and Alias version support for macOS?
After July 13, 2018, Autodesk will no longer provide new Mac versions of VRED and Alias, beginning with version 2019.1.
Prior versions of VRED (2019.0 and earlier) can continue to run existing versions of macOS. Prior versions of Alias (2019.0 and earlier) can continue to run on Sierra or earlier operating system versions. We are currently working with Apple to find a way to enable Alias 2019.0 to run on High Sierra - we will update this document in due course.
Why is Autodesk making this change?
This was a business decision. The Alias and VRED Mac user community is small; this change enables Autodesk development teams to bring innovations to market faster, benefitting the majority of users, and accelerates our goal to help customers digitalize the Design Studio of the Future.
Will VRED and Alias return to the Mac platform?
Making VRED 2019.0 and Alias 2019.0 the last versions on the Mac will enable Autodesk to focus on modernization efforts. We will continue to work closely with Apple to assess future opportunities on the Mac platform.
What are the alternative software options?
If you’re a current Mac user, you can migrate to the Windows version or to Mac-supported software such as Boot Camp. These options offer the functionality you need and will be supported by future updates of VRED and Alias. Though we are not able to support technical issues with Boot Camp or Windows OS, the Windows versions of VRED and Alias are equipped to run on a ‘boot camped’ Windows.
What if I don’t want to change?
If you don’t want to use either the Windows version or Boot Camp (or similar software), it is possible to remain on Sierra or earlier OS X versions and continue with your existing version of Alias (Alias 2019.0 or earlier). Similarly, you can continue using VRED (2019.0 or earlier) on High Sierra or earlier.
