Since its founding in 1984, Karis Co., Ltd. has developed and manufactured many types of disinfection, sterilization, and sanitization equipment that use applied ultra-violet (UV) rays, electric heating cabinets, hot pack units, and applied infra-red (IR) rays. The Korean company pursues product innovation by closely listening to its customers, regularly conducting R&D, and strategically tapping emerging product development technologies.
A longtime SOLIDWORKS® and DraftSight® user, Karis purchased SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation after the company faced increased customer demand for product customization related to the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s too costly and takes too long to make and test prototypes,” Managing Director DugWoo Lee explains. “In the past, we outsourced simulation, but that took longer and cost more. Now, we conduct the simulations ourselves, saving time and money.”
Local SOLIDWORKS reseller Node Data suggested that cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE® Works solutions would make product development more efficient. “We wanted to shorten time to market even more and were becoming increasingly concerned about the safety of our data,” Lee recalls. “We decided to implement 3DEXPERIENCE Works solutions right away to address these objectives after learning about cloud data management and the ability to store and access data from the cloud.” The cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform connects people, data, and applications in a single, unified, collaborative environment.
Implementing 3DEXPERIENCE Works solutions was initially intended to safeguard the company’s product development data in the cloud. A huge bonus from adding the cloud-based platform has been the productivity gains resulting from greater collaboration, contributing to the company’s productivity gains. With all SOLIDWORKS-created design data in the cloud, product development is streamlined, and teamwork is simplified regardless of geographical location.
